At Voices Repository, we’re excited to embark on a journey that goes beyond traditional language documentation. Our mission is not only to preserve words but to capture the spirit, emotion, and rich cultural essence of endangered languages. Here’s a glimpse of what we’re working on:
Our Vision:
We aim to record at least 30 hours of spoken sentences for each language. This is considered a minimum for building AI models that can recognize and reproduce basic speech patterns. But we’re aiming higher—because language is so much more than just a string of words.
What Sets Us Apart:
Language is alive, full of meaning, emotion, and culture. To truly preserve this, we want to go beyond the basics:
Natural Conversations: We’ll be conducting studio sessions where speakers engage in real conversations. This will allow us to capture:
Q&A Sessions: Working alongside linguists, we’ll explore how people respond to different types of questions—ranging from factual to emotional. This will help us capture a broad range of linguistic data.
A Collaborative Effort:
We’re partnering with linguists every step of the way to make sure that we’re not only respecting the cultural significance of these languages but also capturing them accurately. This collaboration ensures:
